The dirty waters of our surroundings are a harsh reminder of the difficulties we confront in our everyday lives. Coyote Creek, a beautiful area in our city, is overflowing with trash, portraying a terrible image of our disregard for our environment. During a recent visit to the library, I noticed scraps of cardboard and miscellaneous items littering our waterways, which detracts from the beauty of our city.

We must take quick action to solve this problem. Stricter littering rules are required to reduce the widespread dumping of trash. Despite existing fines for littering, their impact is limited due to low enforcement, with even law enforcement agents caught in the act facing no consequences.

To successfully fight this situation, I propose a policy to support environmental groups tasked with patrolling high-litter areas like Coyote Creek. These groups will enforce anti-littering laws, issuing fines to those who litter. While community service events have helped to address the issue, they just scrape the surface. It's time to take a more proactive approach to preventing future destruction of our community.
