Implement Stricter Laws and Penalties for Misconducting Veterinarians

Implement Stricter Laws and Penalties for Misconducting Veterinarians
The Issue
My story begins with a personal tragedy. I lost my dog to the negligence of a veterinarian who gave him inappropriate treatment, which tragically led to his death. To my disbelief, it took another three hours of negotiations at the same clinic before the veterinarian on duty told me the name of the medication used on my pet. I was astounded to later discover that the medical director, who I had dealt with, was currently on active probation due to professional violations.
This incident is a stark reminder of the failures in our current veterinary oversight system. Such negligence and cover-ups should be unacceptable in the professional medical field, especially when impacting the lives of our beloved pets. Sadly, my story is not unique. Instances of misconduct and violation citations among veterinarians are surprisingly common. Yet, the consequences are often minimal.
It is time for policy changes. We urge for the establishment of stricter laws against veterinarians who have been cited by the Veterinary board, coupled with tougher penalties. These individuals should be under monitored probation and restricted from supervisory roles, or from managing facilities that could allow them to overshadow the malpractices of their subordinates. Furthermore, as these veterinary entities serve the public, it is crucial that they display full transparency. All related information should be posted publicly, allowing pet owners to make informed decisions about their pet's care.
California please, help us prevent further harm to our innocent pets who trust us to protect them. The change begins with you. Sign the petition today.
