The atrocities committed against defenseless animals are heartbreaking and unbearable. Take the case of the three-month-old poodle who suffered beatings from a women  named Havana Miller, his painful cries echoing through the night. Or the backyard Frenchie breeder, who in a fit of rage, ended his French bulldog's life simply because the poor creature got into the trash. Lastly, contemplate the horror latent in the story of a man who cruelly dragged his dog before launching him off a bridge, effectively murdering him. These three stories, while grim, are only the tip of the iceberg.

We must not stand idle while defenseless animals continue to be subjected to such cruelty at the hands of their supposed caretakers. Instead, we call for lawmakers to pad our existing animal cruelty laws with maximum punishments and stiff penalties. Furthermore, we strongly urge that law enforcement establish a database to record those individuals convicted of animal cruelty, preventing them from future ownership or contact with any animal.

With an estimated 1,920 animal abuse cases reported in the US each year, of which 60.5% involve dogs according to the Humane Society, we believe these proposed actions are critical to mitigating the unimaginable suffering endured by innocent creatures.
