I am a resident of Cabuyao, Laguna and I have witnessed firsthand the disturbing sight of animal abuse. My neighbor has been mistreating cats and dogs under the guise of them being 'naughty', oblivious to the fact that these animals are often a source of comfort and stress relief for many. This incident is not isolated; it reflects a larger issue that needs immediate attention.

Animal abuse is not just an act of cruelty against innocent creatures but also indicative of deeper societal problems. According to studies conducted by various animal welfare organizations, there is a significant correlation between animal abuse and domestic violence or child abuse (source: Humane Society International). Therefore, addressing this issue can help improve overall community safety.

Despite existing laws in the Philippines such as Republic Act No. 8485 or The Animal Welfare Act which penalizes any form of maltreatment towards animals, enforcement remains weak due to lack of awareness and resources (source: Philippine Animal Welfare Society).

We believe that stricter laws need to be implemented in our city - Cabuyao, Laguna - to protect our furry friends from harm's way. We call upon our local government officials to take immediate action by enhancing existing legislation or introducing new ones with harsher penalties for perpetrators.
