i’m a junior in highschool in riverside unified  school district in southern california , my classmates and i are worried to see all the marine anaimals and us the people to be affected by trash and oil pulltion. Our habitats are being ravaged unceasingly, causing immense harm to both marine fauna and humans alike. The toxins present in plastics and oils implicate severe health hazards, prompting the urgent need for a dramatic change. We are direly affected by this issue and can no longer ignore this life dangering crisis. It is said that 8 million metric tons of plastic enter the world's oceans annually, according to a study led by Jenna Jambeck, an environmental engineer at the University of Georgia. In addition to this, large oil spills are a regular occurrence, contributing to an estuarial extermination of marine life. Studies reveal that a surprising 14 billion pounds of garbage, largely composed of plastic and oil waste, are dumped into the ocean annually (Dr. Andreas Merkl, CEO of Ocean Conservancy, at the California Coastal Commission’s 13th biennial California and the World Ocean Conference).By signing this petition, this will help us demand the implementation of stiffer fines for acts of ocean pollution.
