I am a resident of London, UK, and I fell victim to an unfortunate incident where my iPhone was stolen right from my hands by a cyclist. This incident has not only resulted in significant financial debt for me but also led to the loss of years of work stored on my device.

This is not an isolated case. The Metropolitan Police reported that mobile phone thefts have been increasing in London, with thieves often selling these stolen devices at second-hand shops (Metropolitan Police Service). This practice is causing immense distress and financial hardship for victims like myself.

Not to mention that some people even get hurt during the process, by either getting hit by the motorbikes trying to grab the phones or fleeing or even threatened and stabbed.

We need stricter regulations on second-hand shops that sell mobile phones. These businesses should be required to verify the origin of every device they purchase before reselling it to ensure it's not stolen property. By doing so, we can discourage thieves from stealing iPhones and other devices since they will no longer have an easy avenue for profit.
