I could not help but witness the terrifying impact of unregulated fireworks use on our homes. Fireworks, while they might provide a fleeting moment of joy for some, create a soundscape of terror for our pets, infants, family members and local wildlife. 

There is a real lack of consideration, safety, and respect by those who use them. The loud noises characterizing fireworks displays contribute to the 45% increase in runaway pets during holiday events. The World Health Organization has also emphasized the link between loud noises and negative impacts on human health, from sleep disturbance, Asthma, PTSD, Autism to Cardiovascular Diseases and many more human health worries.

Among the users of fireworks, it's been observed an unsafe handling, leading to thousands of injuries every year. Not to mention the effect on wildlife, interrupted from their natural behavior and habitats by these disturbing noises.

Also, some people that have been using fireworks are doing them completely illegally. Usage of fireworks on the main roads, bus stops and after certain times are against the law and can be fined thousands, but I (and many others) feel that the laws need to be a lot more stricter and consistent.

As someone who cherishes the serenity and well-being of my household and local environment, I encourage the appropriate authorities to look into implementing stricter regulations around the usage of fireworks in our communities. There are alternatives for celebrations that guarantee the amusement without inflicting harm.
