I am a resident of Sayville, NY, and it has come to my attention that there is a severe issue of animal mistreatment happening right here in our town. Specifically, at 26 Swayze Street, dogs are chained outside for hours on end in freezing temperatures. This cruel practice is not only heartbreaking but also poses serious health risks to the animals involved.

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), exposure to harsh weather conditions can lead to frostbite and hypothermia among pets, causing irreversible damage or even death. Despite this knowledge, some residents continue with this harmful practice without any repercussions.

Our community needs stricter regulations regarding the confinement of dogs during cold weather periods. We must ensure that all pets are treated humanely and provided with adequate shelter against extreme weather conditions.
