The Issue

I have witnessed the horrors of animal abuse firsthand in my neighborhood. Puppies as young as two years old have been forced to bear three litters, while an eight-year-old cat has birthed nine litters. One dog had 42 puppies by the time she was six years old. These animals are not just overbred, but also neglected - a young dog mother's nipples were constantly bloody from being chewed on by her six puppies because the owner didn't want to spend money on proper food while trying to sell them off for top dollar. The only water available for these poor creatures was from a pool.

This is not just about one neighborhood or one irresponsible owner; it's a widespread issue that needs immediate attention. According to the Humane Society of the United States, there are an estimated 10,000 puppy mills in the U.S., including both licensed and unlicensed facilities (HSUS). Over 2 million puppies bred in mills each year—an industry built on suffering and neglect.

We need stricter regulations for breeding and selling animals—ones that limit excessive litters and prevent neglect and abuse. Proper housing conditions and nutritional needs must be met at all times.

Let us put an end to this cycle of cruelty fueled by greed. Sign this petition now demanding our lawmakers implement strict regulations governing animal breeding practices, ensuring every animal gets treated with respect they deserve.
