Implement Strict Punishments for Animal Cruelty in China

The Issue

I am a witness to the heart-wrenching reality of animal cruelty, particularly towards cats, in China. The countless videos and undeniable proof of such horrific acts have moved me to take action. It is deeply disturbing that these acts go unpunished due to the lack of laws against animal cruelty in the country.

China is home to an estimated 53 million pet cats (Euromonitor International, 2019). Yet, despite this large number, there are no comprehensive nationwide laws that protect these animals from abuse and neglect. This absence of legal protection allows sick-minded individuals to harm innocent creatures without fear of retribution.

The need for change is urgent. Other countries have set precedents we can follow - for instance, in the United States and most European countries, animal cruelty can result in significant fines or even imprisonment.

We are calling on Chinese lawmakers to enact strict punishments for those found guilty of animal abuse. By doing so, we can deter potential abusers and ensure justice for our feline friends who cannot speak up or defend themselves.

Please sign this petition today and help us fight against cat abuse and all forms of animal cruelty in China.
