Implement Strict Legislation to Permanently Outlaw Fox Hunting in the UK

The Issue

As someone deeply affected by the injustice of fox hunting, I share my personal story and concern over this atrocity. Fox hunting, a sport where people derive enjoyment from the brutal killing of innocent foxes, deeply disturbs many animal lovers like myself. Although the Hunting Act 2004 in England and Wales and Scotland aimed to ban this practice, unfortunately, the enforcement of the law remains largely ineffective.

Despite the supposed ban, many continue to participate in fox hunting with little fear of punishment. This gruesome act not only poses a threat to the lives of foxes but also undermines the value of our legal system, illustrating a definite gap between legislation and law enforcement. Furthermore, it upsets me, and countless others, who find this sport abominable and inhumane.

Statistically speaking, a 2019 YouGov survey revealed that 67% of the public are in support of making fox hunting illegal, highlighting the widespread desire for stronger regulation (Source: YouGov UK). This demonstrates a widespread agreement that the existing law should be revamped to embody stricter punishment towards those who disregard it.

Therefore, it is vital that the counteraction against this detestable practice be amplified. We are calling for the UK government to revise the Hunting Act 2004. The revision should facilitate the implementation of stricter laws against fox hunting, imposing severe penalties on those found guilty. It is essential for the government to reflect the values of humanity, compassion and justice in our legislation and put an end to such a barbaric sport for good.

We implore you to take action and endorse this cause by signing this petition! Let us unite to save our innocent wildlife and uphold the justice of our laws.
