Implement Strict Employee Vetting Procedures at BFCCPS
The Issue
Recently, we, a group of concerned parents at Benjamin Franklin Classical Charter Public School (BFCCPS) in Franklin, MA, were shocked to learn about the hiring of an employee with accusations of stalking a former coworker. This alarming revelation was not communicated by the administration but by brave staff members who risked their own job security to ensure our children's safety.
Our trust in the school's administration has been shaken. We are now demanding immediate action to rectify this grave oversight and prevent such occurrences in the future.
We call for the immediate removal of the employee in question, a comprehensive investigation for how this employee came to be hired. And a review of the administration and HR’s competency to do their job. We also implore thorough background checks and reference checks for all potential employees. No one with a criminal background should be allowed to work in our school where they interact with our children daily.
Furthermore, we demand that the school create an environment where staff can voice their concerns without fear of reprisal. The fact that current employees felt compelled to reach out to us instead of being able to address their concerns within the institution is deeply troubling.
We believe these changes are critical for ensuring not only the physical safety but also emotional well-being of our children and staff members alike.
