As a resident of Decatur, Indiana, I have witnessed the growing feline population in our community. Our shelters and animal control are doing their best but can only do so much without proper funding. These animals are at risk from everyday elements, starvation, disease, and cruelty. It's heartbreaking to see animals being killed needlessly with poisons and air-powered rifles within our city limits.

Decatur has a responsibility not only to its people but also to these abandoned animals. We cannot ignore the fact that there are individuals serially killing these creatures simply because they exist - this is an issue that needs immediate attention.

Our city needs to step up for the welfare of all animals that reside in our community by implementing a strategic plan that is in their best interest. According to statistics from The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), millions of stray cats suffer each year due to lack of resources and protection laws.

We urge you - our local government officials - to become beacons for the voiceless by enforcing stricter animal protection laws within Decatur's city limits and ensuring justice for those animals who fell victim to cruel individuals.
