As a teacher and a parent, I witness firsthand the risks that children face during school hours while crossing the intersections of McKim Dr and Greenmound Ave, and McKim Dr and Fairhaven Ln. These intersections, owing to the absence of stop signs, are perilous, especially for young students who have to navigate their way through fast, unchecked vehicles.

Without implementation of stop signs at these locations, we are unnecessarily putting our children's lives at risk. The significance of stop signs cannot be underplayed - according to the Federal Highway Administration, stop signs have been found to reduce crash rates considerably at intersections, especially when they are part of a comprehensive traffic management strategy (Federal Highway Administration, Traffic Calming ePrimer).
