Implement Speed Calming Measures in Bramley, Guildford to Protect Our Children

The Issue

On Tuesday 7th November 2023, My 6 Year old Son narrowly avoided being badly injured or even killed. Naturally, We have both been left traumatised from this event and it will likey take us a long time to recover from.

Every day in our village, children put their lives at risk as they walk to school down narrow pavements, crossing the road to reach school bus laybys - as lorries and other vehicles speed through the village. The A281 has always been a dangerous road and poses serious concerns for all residents of Bramley - from parents, to local businesses owners and school teachers.

According to data from the Department for Transport (DfT), speed contributes towards about one third of all fatal collisions in the UK. This statistic is alarming and highlights the urgent need for action in our community before it's too late.

We are calling on local authorities and traffic management bodies to listen to us - we need speed calming measures and safe school crossings to be implemented immediately on A281. We want safer roads so that every resident feels secure while crossing or walking along them.

Please sign this petition if you believe that everyone deserves safe roads where they live. Let's make sure no other child has their safety compromised due to the community's lack of adequate traffic control measures.
