Living on Memorial Avenue, I have personally witnessed the concerning rise in traffic and the excessive speeds at which vehicles travel. As a parent, the safety of my young children, who play in the front yard and ride their bikes in our driveway, increasingly worries me amidst this reckless driving. This residential street, where numerous families with young children reside, is in urgent need of an efficient speed-reducing measure: a speed hump.

According to the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO), speed humps are proven to reduce vehicles' speed to 15-20 mph and thus decrease accident rates. They can make our street safer, not only for my children but for every pedestrian and resident of Memorial Avenue.

Our plea is not just for a mere road alteration but for a preventive measure to ensure the safety of our children. We must preserve the right of our children to play and grow in a safe environment without the constant threat of high-speed vehicles. Let's work together to safeguard young lives.
