Implement "Slow Down for Pets" Signs in Residential Areas

The Issue

This Wednesday November 13 at 5:40pm my two year old dog named Harper Nyx was tragically killed on a main street in a residential area, a place you would expect to be safe for all members of our community, including our beloved pets. Unfortunately, my experience is not isolated. According to a report by the American Humane Society, tens of thousands of pets are injured or killed on the roads every year in the United States. Cars in residential areas often drive faster than is safe for humans and pets, putting our non-human family members in constant danger.

That's why it's high time our towns and cities implemented "Slow Down for Pets" signs in residential areas. These signs signify to drivers that they need to reduce their speed, increasing the safety for pets, and also providing a safer environment for children and other pedestrians.

Let's come together to make sure our pets are protected on our streets. No pet owner should go through the pain of losing their animal companion due to the negligence of fast drivers. This is about more than just signs; it is about creating neighborhoods where everyone, including pets, can safely coexist. Please sign this petition to ensure our pets are allowed the freedom they rightfully deserve, without fear of losing their lives.
