I am a student who, like many others in my grade, was eagerly looking forward to our school dance this year. However, we were disappointed to learn that only students in 8th grade are allowed to participate. This policy has left us feeling excluded and overlooked.

School dances are more than just social events. They provide an opportunity for students to develop their social skills, build self-confidence, and create lifelong memories with their peers. According to the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), such events contribute significantly towards enhancing students' overall well-being and academic performance.

Yet despite these benefits, many schools across the country continue to restrict participation in dances based on grade level. This not only deprives younger students of valuable experiences but also sends a message that they are less important than their older peers.

We believe that every student should have equal opportunities regardless of their age or grade level. We urge our school administration to reconsider its current policy and allow all grades to participate in school dances.

We need a dance to be able to dress up and hang with friends or people more than friends! It makes us grow more mentally!
