Just this past summer, the life of a bright 8-year-old boy was tragically taken after being hit by a car on Littleton Road while he was bicycling. I, a resident of Parsippany, seek to create lasting measures to prevent such incidents in the future. Littleton Road, a busy residential road, lacks the critical safety measures needed to maintain a protected community. In the area where Avyaan was struck, the speed limit is 40 mph, when according to state law, it should be between 25-30 mph. The absence of this safety measure exposes pedestrians, particularly children, to great risk. According to the World Health Organization, road traffic injuries are the leading cause of death for children and young adults aged 5-29 years. This is the current situation on Littleton Road, which is why I ask for your help: together, let us work together to decrease the speed limit on Littleton Road. My call is not just a request for local change; it is a demand for a safer future, for our future generations. In honor of Avyaan and all the innocent lives on the line, it's time for change.
