I am writing this petition out of concern for the safety of our neighbors near the intersection of West 119th Ave and Zuni in The Ranch neighborhood in Westminster, Colorado. Visibility is low for both drivers and pedestrians traveling north on Zuni, and those turning left or right onto Zuni from West 119th Ave. There is a sharp curve in the road on Zuni approaching W 119th limiting visibility for vehicles at this intersection. Vehicles turning left onto Zuni from W. 119th Ave must inch out nearly to the middle of the street to achieve visibility around the bend before safely turning onto Zuni. My mother and my 3-year-old child were involved a car accident on April 9, 2025 fuelled by the lack of visibility due to this blind spot curve.

Further increasing the risk for our children, the intersection serves as a bus stop for our local Elementary, Middle and High Schools. There have been multiple instances of cars approaching too quickly while young children load on and off the bus. There are zero traffic safety measures in place along Zuni to prevent potential tragedies near this bus stop. 

We seek the installation of a 4-way stop and/or additional safety measures from the relevant authorities at this intersection. These improvements would ensure a safer environment for all road users and pedestrians. The current situation poses a serious risk to the safety and well-being of children, families and all residents alike.
