As a regular commuter on the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), I am deeply frustrated and concerned about the constant delays due to people being on the tracks. Every week, there seems to be a new issue preventing me from getting from point A to point B. This is not just an inconvenience; it's a matter of public safety.

In cities like Tokyo and London, subway stations have implemented platform screen doors (PSDs) which have proven effective in reducing accidents and suicides by 70% according to studies conducted by International Association of Public Transport (UITP). These barriers separate the platform from the tracks ensuring that people cannot accidentally or intentionally access them.

Toronto deserves this same level of safety. The TTC is one of North America's busiest transit systems with over 1.69 million passengers daily as reported by Statistics Canada in 2019. It is high time we prioritize their safety.
