Implement Safer Streets for Families and Pets Through Crime Reduction Measures

The Issue

As a parent whose son was tragically hit by a car that fled the scene, I understand the profound need for safer streets in our neighborhood. My son is now on a long road to recovery, but others haven't been so lucky. There has been a death in our neighborhood as a result of gun violence and innumerable other crimes, such as car break-ins and theft. It is time we stood together and demanded change.

Our community is undergoing significant strain due to excessive speeding, increasing crime rates, and gang activity. Speed bumps, increased surveillance through cameras, and improved lighting are practical solutions that can significantly decrease crime rates and enhance our safety. According to the Crime Prevention Research Center, active surveillance systems can effectively deter criminals and decrease crime rates by 16% to 20%. Moreover, according to a study published in the Journal of Transport and Health, speed bumps can reduce traffic accidents by 38%.

By slowing down traffic in our neighborhood, we can discourage outsiders who bring unwelcomed activities and dangers to our streets. The safety and tranquility of our streets should be our top priority to promote a healthy and secure living environment for families and pets.

It is time to turn the tide of fear and uncertainty into hope for a safer, peaceful neighborhood. Please sign this petition to demand safer streets for our families and pets.
