Meeting with David Macleod today at Corbett Park

Good afternoon,  I just wanted to give you an update after the most recent meeting with our MP David McLeod. Paul Cunningham, Graham Chard, and myself met with David to discuss the speed situation coming into Oakura.  It was encouraging to see him out in Oakura taking an interest in our cause. He did, however, emphasize that we need as much support as possible to move this along further.  His plan is to take this directly to the minister in charge. That being said we only have 416 signatures to date. I feel that realistically we need to get over 1000 for real traction. David mentioned that we need a mandate from the community. At this point, I don’t feel we have a mandate since the population of Oakura is hovering around 4000 residents, therefore 416 signatures only accounts for about 10% of the population.  We need more local support and more signatures to get this to the finish line.  If you can, please have any of your family members sign the petition, as well as any friends. I know entering your email puts people off but it is not being sold or given out to a 3rd party! We’ve got great momentum, but we still need to keep pushing. Thank you for your support!
