The Issue

My heart is heavy as I write this. Our gentle Chihuahua, once full of life and joy, now lives in the shadow of fear.  While my husband was walking him on a leash, a black Labrador came out of its yard and viciously attacked him. Our poor little dog ended up in the hospital, battling for his life in the ICU overnight. His ribs were broken, his lung bruised, and his body marked by puncture wounds. Even now, he's not himself, terrified at the sight of other dogs.

This traumatic event is not an isolated incident. This same dog has a history of aggression, having attacked other dogs in our neighborhood, even harming several cats. Pedestrians are increasingly anxious about walking down our block, worried they might be next. Countless witnesses can attest to the terror and danger posed by this unsupervised dog.

We live in a community where safety should be a given, not a concern. Unfortunately, this aggressive dog has turned our peaceful neighborhood into a place of dread and anxiety. This is not the environment we want for ourselves or our pets.

We urge local authorities to take immediate action by imposing restrictions on this dog and ensuring its owner adheres to stricter safety protocols. This might include mandatory leash requirements, secure fencing, regular behavioral assessments, and, if necessary, muzzling the dog during walks to prevent further incidents.

By signing this petition, you're standing up for the safety of pets and people alike in our neighborhood. Together, we can make our streets safe again and ensure no one else has to go through the same heartache our family has endured. Please sign this petition to call for immediate action to keep our community safe.
