I am writing this petition out of deep concern for the well-being of animals in hot climates, particularly in my hometown, General Trias, Cavite, Philippines. As temperatures continue to rise due to climate change, animals are increasingly vulnerable to suffering and neglect. This issue is personal to me and many others who care about animal welfare.

The urgency of this situation cannot be overstated. Animals are sentient beings that feel pain and discomfort just like us. In extreme heat conditions without proper shelter or cooling mechanisms, they can suffer from dehydration, heatstroke and other health complications which can lead to death.

We urge the authorities to take immediate action by implementing regulations that require adequate shelter for animals in hot climates. These shelters should provide shade and appropriate cooling mechanisms that protect them from extreme heat.

According to a report by the World Animal Protection (2018), millions of animals worldwide are at risk due to lack of protection from extreme weather conditions caused by climate change. The Philippines is among the countries most affected by climate change (Global Climate Risk Index 2020), making our local animal population particularly vulnerable.
