As an American citizen deeply concerned about the state of our democracy, I have personally experienced the frustration and limitations of our current voting system. The "winner-takes-all" approach often forces us to vote for the "lesser of two evils", rather than supporting a candidate we truly believe in. This is why I am advocating for Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) to be implemented across all states.

Ranked Choice Voting allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference, ensuring that if their first choice does not win, their vote is not wasted but transferred to their next preferred candidate. This eliminates the third-party "spoiler effect" during Presidential elections and encourages more diverse representation.

According to FairVote, a non-partisan organization advocating for electoral reforms, RCV leads to higher voter turnout and satisfaction as it promotes positive campaigning and provides voters with more choices (FairVote). Furthermore, a study by Rutgers University found that cities with RCV were twice as likely to have women elected into office (Rutgers University).

It's time we modernize our voting system so that every American can freely vote for multiple candidates during local, state and Federal elections without fear of wasting their vote or causing unintended consequences.
