Observing nature is one of life's little pleasures - a quiet moment to appreciate the wonder of the world. I had the privilege to watch a family of geese being born and grow this spring in Silver Park, Alliance, Ohio. It was a beautiful experience, cut short by an unsettling disappearance. The innocent creatures vanished, driven away by selfish individuals grumbling about a natural and harmless inconvenience - bird droppings.

Silver Park is not just for us humans, it's home to diverse wildlife. Recent literature reveal more than 500,000 geese are killed annually due to human activity in rural areas in the US (Source: United States Fish and Wildlife Service). Unfortunately, our park seems to be mirroring this statistic rather than contradicting it.

We urgently request the local authorities of Alliance, Ohio, to implement measures to protect these beautiful winged residents and other creatures that call Silver Park home. Let's respect our shared environment, cherish the diversity within our parklands, counteract the needless harm, and strive towards peaceful coexistence. The enrichment that wildlife brings to our communities is beyond measure, but only if we safeguard their existence.
