Implement Pothole Repair into Community Services

Implement Pothole Repair into Community Services

The Issue

I have been a victim of the unforeseen perils posed by potholes on more than one occasion. Whether as a driver or a passenger, the sudden and shocking jolt of an unexpected pothole is an experience many of us share, often leading to substantial vehicle damage, like flat tires. This is a genuine concern that necessitates prompt and sensible action. Therefore, I propose a novel solution - integrating pothole repair as part of community service duties. By doing so, we can not only address the issue of street maintenance but also provide community service participants with useful, hands-on skills. Studies have shown that in the USA alone, pothole damages cost drivers $3 billion a year — a staggering statistic that illustrates the gravity of the issue (source: AAA, 2016). This staggering cost can be reduced significantly if local communities embrace the fixing of potholes as part of their service to the community. High school kids, people who are dealing with consequences from the law, and volunteers, could get credit for doing community service and helping the community prevent a problem.Let's take a progressive step towards improving our roads while fostering a sense of community responsibility. Please sign this petition to make filling potholes a vital part of community service.
