Implement permit-only parking in Poulton-le-Fylde

The Issue

Living on one of the serene residential streets of Poulton-le-Fylde should be a peaceful experience. However, daily life for residents has turned into a constant struggle due to the rampant parking problems and speeding issues plaguing our neighborhood. I personally face these challenges living on such a street, where non-residents often leave their cars for days while utilizing the near-by train station, making it difficult for residents like myself to find parking.

This frequent misuse of parking spaces not only fuels frustration but also affects the harmony of the neighborhood. Streets lined with the vehicles of train commuters impact our ability to host family and friends, hindering social interactions and disrupting the essential community atmosphere.

Moreover, speeding down these roads is becoming alarmingly common. Drivers desiring a shortcut from the congested main roads often rush through our residential areas at hazardous speeds, posing real danger particularly for our children who live and play here. This menace not only threatens their safety but also reduces the quality of life, as constant vigilance becomes necessary.

To restore the peace and safety in our community, I propose two key initiatives:

1. Implementing a residents-only parking permit system: This will ensure that the limited parking on residential streets is primarily available for those who live there, preserving parking spaces for residents and fostering a more neighborly environment.

2. Installing speed bumps along transitional roads: Speed bumps serve as an effective deterrent against reckless driving, forcing vehicles to slow down and thus safeguarding our children and other pedestrians from potential harm.

Change is vital to preserving the tranquility and safety of Poulton-le-Fylde’s residential streets. I urge local authorities to assess and approve these improvements. Together, we can work towards creating a safer and more pleasant neighborhood. Please sign this petition and help make a difference in our community.
