The Issue

This is a plea deeply rooted in personal tragedy. My grandmother lost the love of her life to a thoughtless driver on the road. This is a fate no one should have to endure and we call upon you to make necessary changes for the safety of pedestrians at the Copley Junction. As it stands, there are no crossing lights or pedestrian crossings, posing a significant risk to those who rely on this route daily. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, pedestrian fatalities account for around 16% of all traffic fatalities in the UK (source: NHTSA). This incidence rate is a sobering reminder that more needs to be done to ensure the safety of pedestrians. By implementing crossing lights or a designated pedestrian crossing at the Copley Junction, we can take a significant step towards reducing needless accidents and deaths. Let's give pedestrians a safer passage, and prevent more heartbreaking incidents like my grandmother's tragic loss. Please sign this petition and urge the local authorities to take necessary action at the Copley Junction.
