I am a single individual who owns three different vehicles, each of which serves its unique purpose. Like many others in my position, I can only operate one of these vehicles at a time. To this end, I propose that we should be legally allowed to list all our vehicles under the same number plate and pay only one registration fee, albeit marginally higher than usual for a single registration.

This petition calls for a change in regulation that would enable owners of multiple vehicle to use a single registration number for each of their vehicles, with swapping plates equipped with quick-release locks or devices to ensure only one vehicle is being used at a time. This way, instead of having to pay three full registrations, individuals like myself would only have to pay for a single registration.

Such a change would significantly ease the financial burden of vehicle owners, who, according to Statistics Australia, make up 81.5% of household families in Australia with multiple privately owned vehicles. It’s crucial to note that this change should embrace the restriction of this service to a limited number of owned vehicles known and proven to belong to the same owner.

By implementing this single registration concept, it would also potentially reduce administrative tasks for traffic departments, streamline vehicle tracking, and allocate effective use of our resources. Therefore, sign this petition to call for legal provisions to enable one registration number for multiple vehicles.
