Implement No Wake Zone in Stump Pass Ski Alley

The Issue

The excessive speed of watercrafts traveling through the Stump Pass Ski Alley creates dangerous conditions for all water goers in the area.

The Stump Pass Ski Alley is a popular water location in Englewood, with shallow and warm waters that can attract hundreds of boaters, kayakers, paddle boarders, and jet skiers alike daily. Watercraft will commonly anchor on either side of the channel.

The wakes generated by speeding boats passing through this channel can capsize smaller vessels like kayaks and paddle boards, and create hazardous conditions for swimmers. Beached boats on either side of the channel rock heavily due to the wake, causing dangerous falling conditions for boaters onboard their vessels.

The wakes generated by speeding watercraft also have the potential to loosen and release anchors planted in the sand by the beached boats, risking untethered, free-standing boats in the canal, a danger to all swimmers in the area.

Marine life is also at risk. Dolphins, manatees, and other aquatic animals are known to inhabit Ski Alley.

By implementing a no wake zone, we can ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone who uses this beautiful waterway in Englewood, FL. Please sign this petition to protect our community's waterways!
