I am an ardent animal lover, distressed by the number of innocent animals euthanized daily in the Humane Societies across Canada just to make room for new ones. It pains me to see kittens getting adopted while the older ones are disregarded, as if their lives don't matter. Because in reality, every animal life matters - be it cats, dogs, or any other creatures.

This is a serious issue that brings into question the very 'humane' in Humane Societies. Canada's Humane Societies euthanize innumerable animals every year simply due to a lack of space. While it's understood that euthanizing may sometimes be the kindest option for animals suffering from incurable diseases or injuries, it's tragic and unacceptable when it happens merely for space management purposes.

We are calling for a significant change - a shift towards becoming a 'No-Kill Nation'. We urge all Humane Societies in Canada, including our local shelter here in Regina, SK, to implement 'No-Kill' policies. Animals should only be euthanized in circumstances where they are suffering and not expected to recover.

Imagine a Canada where every animal gets a chance at life and love, regardless of their age or breed. This is the future we must strive for. Together, we can promise all animals that they too matter, and prevent them from being treated as mere numbers.
