Implement Nap Time for High School Students

The Issue

We are a group of students endlessly battling fatigue amidst the stressful life of high school. It's a struggle we face every day. With heaps of homework assignments and the pressure of maintaining good grades, it's impossible for us to get the recommended 8 to 10 hours of sleep that teenagers need according to the National Sleep Foundation. Yet, it's surprising to think that nap time is incorporated in kindergarten schedules but disappears by the time we reach high school, despite the increasing demands on our attention and energy.

We believe it's imperative for all high school students to have nap time. According to 'The Power of Nap' published by Harvard Medical School, a short nap in the afternoon can increase productivity, lift mood and even improve memory and learning. A lack of proper sleep leads to decreased performance in academics, weakened concentration levels, and can potentially contribute to mental health issues over time.

Therefore, we demand an equitable change in the educational system to introduce nap time for high school students. This change will not only manage our fatigue but also effectively enhance our overall learning experience. It's time our school system recognized sleep as a vital component to a student's success and health. Sign this petition to help us reclaim our right to rest. Let's work together to bring about this essential change in our schools.
