Implement More Wildlife Crossings Nationwide and Globally

The Issue

I am a passionate advocate for wildlife, currently studying wildlife conservation in college. Animals are not just part of my life, they are my life. They deserve to be treated with respect and consideration as living beings sharing this planet with us. It is heartbreaking to witness the countless lives lost due to road accidents each year - a tragedy that can be mitigated through the implementation of more wildlife crossings.

Wildlife crossings have proven effective in reducing animal-vehicle collisions by providing safe passage for animals across busy highways. In Banff National Park in Canada, for example, the introduction of wildlife crossings has reduced vehicle collisions with large animals by 80% (source: Parks Canada). Similarly, in the state of Wyoming in the United States, such structures have decreased collisions by approximately 85% (source: Wyoming Department of Transportation).

However, despite these positive outcomes, many regions globally and within all 50 states lack sufficient wildlife crossing structures. This lack not only endangers our beloved fauna but also poses significant safety risks to motorists.

By signing this petition, you are advocating for governments at all levels - local, state or provincial and national - to prioritize funding towards creating more wildlife crossings. Together we can make roads safer for both humans and animals alike while preserving our precious biodiversity for future generations. Please sign this petition today.
