Growing up, our family dog was more than a pet — he was a member of our family. However, our beloved companion was tragically caught in a snare, resulting in serious injury. This devastating incident is unfortunately not an isolated one. Numerous individuals in our community have experienced the pain of seeing their pets injured, maimed, or worse, due to irresponsibly laid traps.

It is for them, and all pet owners out there, that we seek to change the laws surrounding trapping/snaring. We call upon our local government to implement more rigorous trapping regulations. These could include obligatory notification for people living in the vicinity of set traps, as well as proof of regular line checks, possible an online map/app where they can upload their lines so people in the area can see critical information to ensure no innocent animal is left suffering needlessly. 

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, each year in the U.S alone, thousands of pets fall victim to traps intended for wildlife. This statistic underlines the urgent need for a change in policy.
