Implement More All-Gender Restrooms at Texas Women's University

Implement More All-Gender Restrooms at Texas Women's University
The Issue
As Texas Women's University students, we have noticed the scarcity of all-gender restrooms on campus. With a diverse student population, our University prides itself on inclusivity. Yet, the lack of all-gender restrooms contradicts this mission. All students should feel secure knowing they can access a safe, convenient restroom on campus. There are currently 13/280 TWU buildings with all-gender bathrooms.
According to the Williams Institute, 0.6% of US adults identify as transgender – that's equivalent to roughly 1.4 million people, and this is just one gender identity. Given the size and diverse demographics of the student population at Texas Woman's, undoubtedly, this means we have students who identify as transgender or do not conform to the traditional gender binary. Having all-gender restrooms is not just a matter of convenience. It is a basic matter of dignity, safety, and accessibility.
To truly cultivate an environment that respects and protects our diverse student body, Texas Woman's University should commit to installing more all-gender restrooms on campus. With this petition, we are calling for the expansion of all-gender restroom facilities, aligning with the University's professed commitment to student welfare and inclusivity.
The time is now to make Texas Woman's University a truly inclusive institution. Please sign this petition to encourage the University to add more all-gender restrooms across the campus.
