The Issue

Tragically, my uncle lost his life due to insufficient intervention during a severe medical emergency . Despite clear signs of distress, those around him at the time did not seek the much-needed help that could have saved his life. This heartbreaking circumstance occurred on the night of August 4th when his girlfriend noticed unusual behavior but refrained from alerting the authorities. Five hours later, my uncle was no longer with us.

"Michael's Law" proposes holding such individuals accountable, making them responsible if they fail to call 911 in such critical situations. That means, if someone nearby doesn't act responsibly during a crisis involving a person clearly not in their right state of mind to call help for themselves , they could be liable for neglect and receive jail time.

This proposed legislation isn't about assigning blame gratuitously; it's about ensuring we all recognize the gravity of medical health crises.  Implementing "Michael's Law" could help lower such tragic incidents, making all of us part of the solution in an ongoing medical health crisis in our country.

For Michael, for us, and for everyone who could encounter such situations in the future, we ask for your support. Sign this petition to show you stand for accountability and want to help prevent further avoidable losses in medical emergencies. It's time to take action – please sign the petition calling for the enactment of "Michael's Law".
