I've devoted my life to rescuing cats, and I've seen firsthand the unimaginable trauma animals go through in the hands of cruel sub-humans.

 Recently, I came across a heinous act of cruelty inflicted upon a cat in Floreat WA .

Stuffed into an esky (there is no way he could have thought this poor submissive cat was feral and unowned?) Left for 8 hours without water or AIR -  to sweat , overheat and suffocate - unable to escape this tiny , hot prison.

The perpetrator had manifold humane options including  - contacting Cats Of Perth - Lost and Found, doorknocking his immediate  neighbours,  posting as found on his local group and asking for help to get him to the Vets or a rescue for a microchip check , calling on Rangers, Cat rescue, or even the nearest Vets. Instead, he chose brutality , letting the cat suffocate to death in an Esky?

According to current Australian laws, animal cruelty is punishable by up to 5 years imprisonment and $50,000 fine, but enforcement leaves much to be desired.

 Australians stand together in the belief that these maximum sentences should be enforced consistently and rigidly. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) in Australia receives over 50,000 cruelty complaints every year - it’s our responsibility to ensure justice is served in every single case.

For this to occur, we need the courts to buckle down and demonstrate a solid commitment to defending our vulnerable animal populations. They should be imposing maximum sentences to those found guilty of animal cruelty; it's not enough to just have the laws on the books - they need to be enforced.
