Implement Mandatory Spay/Neuter Laws and Breeder Licensing in Alabama

The Issue

As a foster for abandoned puppies and dogs, I witness the heartbreaking reality of pet overpopulation every day. In my role as a volunteer at our local shelter, I see wonderful dogs being euthanized simply due to overbreeding and abandonment. The pain is unimaginable when a dog licks your face while you are forced to end its life because there's no space or resources to care for them.

In Alabama, dogs and cats are dumped daily. They are bred by negligent backyard breeders and discarded without a second thought. Our shelters are overflowing, with animals being euthanized weekly due to lack of space and reduced adoptions. Rescues across the nation are full, unable to take in more animals in need.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) estimates that 6.5 million companion animals enter U.S animal shelters nationwide every year - approximately 3.3 million dogs and 3.2 million cats (ASPCA). This is an alarming number that we can reduce through responsible actions.

We need change on behalf of all dogs and cats in our state - we can be that change! By implementing mandatory spay/neuter laws and breeder licensing regulations, we can control pet population growth responsibly while ensuring ethical breeding practices.

Please sign this petition if you believe in advocating for these changes - let's give our furry friends the chance they deserve!
