Implement Mandatory Purchase of Tags for Amish and Mennonite Buggies, Wagons, and Trailers

The Issue

The SW portion of Isabella County, MI, USA’s roads are in a state of neglect. The conditions are deteriorating day by day and the county seems to be turning a blind eye to it. A number of Amish and/or Mennonite people also use these roads daily with their buggies, wagons and trailers. However, they do not contribute financially towards the maintenance or improvement of these roads.

This is not just about road conditions; it's about fairness and shared responsibility. In 2019 alone, Michigan had over 300 reported buggy accidents (source: Michigan State Police). These incidents put additional strain on our already crumbling infrastructure.

Therefore, we propose that all Amish and Mennonite in Michigan should be required to purchase registration tags for their buggies, wagons and trailers. This would help provide additional much-needed funds for road improvements while ensuring everyone who uses the roads contributes towards their upkeep.

It's time we take action to ensure the safety and quality of our local infrastructures while promoting fairness among all road users. We are not asking for donations. We are asking for signatures. Please sign this petition if you agree that it's time for change!
