As a concerned citizen, I've noticed the potential dangers that can arise from elderly drivers on the road. This is not an ageist claim, but one rooted in scientific evidence. Studies show that reaction times lengthen with age, which can lead to increased risk of accidents (Source: National Institute on Aging).

In addition to safety concerns, there are also environmental and congestion issues at stake. Encouraging older individuals to use free public transportation could significantly reduce carbon emissions and ease traffic congestion in our cities.

I understand the reluctance of many older drivers to take that decision to stop driving as they see it as "losing their independence".  Even more reason to introduce legislation that addresses the issue in a fair and equitable way. It will also be a driver for investing in better public and community transport systems. 

We propose a solution that addresses  these issues - introducing mandatory driving tests every three years for those over 75. This measure would ensure continued road safety while encouraging the use of public transport among this demographic.
