Implement Mandatory Dog Training Courses for Owners with tougher laws on dogs in public

The Issue

As a concerned parent and citizen, I have witnessed firsthand the potential dangers of untrained dogs in public spaces. My young son has been threatened twice by dogs that were off their lead and not properly supervised by their owners. Thankfully, I was able to prevent any physical harm. However, this experience is not unique to us; there are countless stories of dog attacks due to irresponsible ownership.

It's becoming increasingly common for dog owners to allow their pets to invade people's space in public areas, often reacting defensively when asked to control their animals. This behavior is not only disrespectful but also poses a significant risk to the safety of others.

Accordingly, we are calling for stricter laws on dogs in public spaces. Specifically, we propose that all dog owners be legally required to complete proper training courses with their pets before they can take them into public areas.

This measure will ensure that all dogs in our community are adequately trained and controlled by responsible owners who understand the importance of respecting other people's space and safety. It will also help reduce the number of reported dog attacks which have been on an alarming rise recently.

We believe this initiative will benefit everyone - from those who fear being attacked by an uncontrolled pet, parents like myself who worry about our children's safety around animals, even responsible pet owners who often bear the brunt of criticism due to a few irresponsible individuals.
