The Issue

As someone deeply affected by a currently ongoing case involving girls who were violated, this plea comes from a place of personal pain and urgency. Children who become victims of horrific crimes live in constant fear while their perpetrators are allowed to roam free during trials. Their rights and safety are often overlooked, leading to considerations of leniency for those accused of child sex crimes. This neglection is highly troubling and needs immediate rectification.

In the United States alone, nearly 90% of child sexual abuse cases involve a perpetrator known by the victim, adding another layer of anxiety and fear to the already traumatic experience (source: National Center for Victims of Crime). We are invoking our rights as citizens, appealing to our lawmakers, judiciary, and society at large to enact comprehensive laws that protect child victims from their violators during trials.

The current system is failing these innocent children, missing the mark on safeguarding their mental and physical health. Implementing such laws will not only provide them a safer space to recover and fight for justice, but also serve as a deterrent to potential offenders. Our call to action could make a difference; let's band together to advocate for the rights and protection of our children. Please join us by signing this petition.
