Implement Laws to Prevent Pet Euthanasia and Uncontrolled Breeding

The Issue

I am a proud owner of a red nose pit, a cherished family member who shares our home back in Virginia. As an OTR truck driver for the past 7 months, our pit and the memory of our dog who has passed give me comfort and keep me grounded. Regretfully, the same cannot be said for all animals. Daily, countless pets are heartbreakingly euthanized or subjected to the cruel conditions of uncontrolled breeding. These animals, capable of such unconditional love and loyalty, deserve more than the current disregard from our society.

In the United States alone, nearly 670,000 dogs are euthanized annually, not for lack of love or capability, but for lack of a loving home. This scenario is unimaginable and unacceptable. On the flip side, we also have animals being bred irresponsibly, contributing to overpopulation and needlessly increasing the number of animals destined for a life in shelters or worse.

Our former and future presidents, along with other state representatives, need to address this issue head-on. We need stricter pet control laws, breeding licencing, and adequate provisions for shelter animals to live their lives to the fullest, rather than being condemned due to the human-created problem of overpopulation. By restricting uncontrolled breeding, unless granted by courts, we can begin to alleviate the strain on our overloaded animal shelters.

We are asking for your support to help turn this issue from a negative to a positive, and save the lives of hundreds of thousands of animals who just yearn for a home. Please, sign this petition to push for the enactment of laws preventing unnecessary euthanasia and uncontrolled breeding. Let us stop witnessing these painful endings and start giving our pets the loving start to life they deserve.
