Every so often, we come face to face with extreme weather conditions that truly test the limits of human adaptability. Right now, we are in the clutches of an impending heavy storm, expected to last till tomorrow. As members of this community, we share deeply personal concerns about safety, especially for our North Forsyth high school students who face the challenge of driving in these perilous conditions to attend school. These young individuals, who are just beginning to navigate the complexities of driving, should not have to bear the additional burden of treacherous weather hurdles. According to the US Department of Transportation, weather conditions are a factor in nearly 21% of road crashes. The road safety of our students and the wider community is paramount, and it is our collective responsibility to prevent any possible accidents or injuries. Recognizing the gravity of the situation and the imminent danger it presents, we urge the school authorities to implement immediate school closures until the weather conditions improve. This approach is not about privilege or convenience, but about safety, humanity, and common sense. Let's prioritize the safety and wellbeing of our students before anything else.
