I am deeply affected by the rise in cases of rape and sexual harassment, which seems to be escalating due to the lack of strict and severe punishment. The current sentence of life imprisonment somehow still gives the convict a chance to live, albeit within the confines of a jail cell. This is not justice. The survivors are left to bear the consequences of the crime, often alone and unsupported, while the guilty are provided with a chance at life. It seems grossly unfair. It's high time to alter the existing laws and introduce capital punishment for these heinous crimes.

Our society has long cried out for amendment in laws regarding sexual assault - laws that reflect zero tolerance for such actions. According to survey, an Indian girl/women is sexually assaulted every 1 hour , and every 2 hours, that victim is a child. These figures are alarming. Therefore, it's vital to employ harsher legal measures against culprits of these brutal crimes as a deterrent to potential offenders.
