As a former student at the University of Wyoming, I have witnessed the dangers of Highway 287. This highway has claimed too many lives and it's time we demand change. The lack of guard rails and possibly a divider on this highway poses a significant risk to all who travel on it, especially during harsh weather conditions which are common in Wyoming.

According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), road departures account for more than half of all motor vehicle traffic fatalities. Guard rails can significantly reduce these types of accidents by preventing vehicles from veering off the road.

The implementation of guard rails is not just about improving safety measures; it's about preserving lives and preventing families from experiencing unnecessary grief due to potential preventable accidents. While it is not 100% effective, if our community and government can come together to save lives, then our thoughts and prayers go beyond words and we assume action. We urge our local government in Wyoming to prioritize this issue and take immediate action.
