Implement Good Policies and Increase Cleanliness Awareness in India

Implement Good Policies and Increase Cleanliness Awareness in India
The Issue
I am an avid traveller, and India, with its vibrant culture, historical marvels, and stunning natural beauty, has always been close to my heart. However, my experiences are often marred by the sight of garbage that extends from the beautiful beaches to the majestic mountains. It's time we take action.
Cleanliness and sanitation are among the biggest challenges that India faces today. Despite the government’s efforts to address the issue with initiatives such as the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, there appears to be a lack of policies regarding littering by the public, and the implementation of such initiatives leaves a lot to be desired. Moreover, the media, with its profound influence, needs to play a prominent role in raising awareness about cleanliness among the general population.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board, India generates about 25,940 tonnes of plastic waste daily. Of this, about 40% remains uncollected (TOI). Such shocking statistics underscore the importance and urgency of the issue at hand.
Furthermore, it is crucial to match international standards in terms of cleanliness, especially in a sector as significant as tourism to uplift our international image, encourage tourism, and foster a sense of pride among the citizens.
It is, therefore, that I urge the government to enact strong policies against public littering, reinforce existing cleanliness initiatives, and collaborate with media agencies to raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness. For my country, whose beauty I want the world to see, I offer you my plea. Please sign this petition and join me in urging the Government and media agencies to take necessary action for a cleaner, more beautiful India.
