# National Petition: Support Red Flag Registration and Stronger Protections for Domestic Violence Survivors **Protect Survivors. Prevent Repeat Violence. Strengthen Accountability.** Every survivor deserves to feel safe after escaping abuse. Too many victims continue to live in fear even after an abuser has been convicted or a protective order has been issued. We call on the governors and state legislatures of all 50 states to strengthen protections for survivors by enacting legislation that improves offender accountability while respecting constitutional rights and due process. We urge every state to consider laws that: * Strengthen penalties for repeat domestic violence offenders. * Improve enforcement of protective orders. * Establish lawful registration requirements for individuals convicted of qualifying domestic violence offenses, where appropriate. * Allow courts to order GPS monitoring for high-risk offenders when authorized by law. * Expand victim notification systems to alert survivors when an offender violates court-ordered restrictions. * Increase funding for domestic violence shelters, advocacy organizations, counseling, and legal services. * Improve training for law enforcement, prosecutors, and judges on domestic violence cases. * Promote cooperation among law enforcement agencies to better protect survivors. Domestic violence affects families and communities in every state. Survivors deserve meaningful protections that help prevent repeat violence and save lives.
